In HearAdvisor's lab testing, it earned an A grade with a SoundScore of 4.8/5, placing it in the top 8% of all prescription hearing aids tested and ranking #4 out of 36 devices in its category.

Speech performance is a standout strength. On initial fit with a closed vented dome, the Oticon Real achieves an excellent normalized score of 4.8/5. Speech in quiet is a particular strength at 4.5/5, well above the category average. Speech in noise scores 3.0/5—above average for the category but mixed in absolute terms. Music streaming quality is strong at 4.2/5, making this an appealing configuration for users who frequently stream audio. Feedback handling is solid at 4.0/5, while own-voice comfort is mixed at 2.4/5.

Tuned fit observations

After professional tuning with the same closed vented dome coupling, the normalized score settles at 4.5/5—a decrease of 0.3 points from the initial fit. Speech in quiet remains strong at 4.0/5, and speech in noise holds at 2.9/5, still above category average but mixed overall.
