Test Configuration

In our initial fit testing with closed dome coupling, the AirPods Pro 3 achieved a normalized Initial Score of 3.2/5. Speech performance started quite limited, with speech in quiet at 1.0/5 and speech in noise at 1.1/5. However, the device excelled in other areas: music streaming reached 4.3/5 and feedback handling scored a perfect 5.0/5. Own-voice comfort measured 1.9/5. This initial configuration prioritizes audio fidelity over speech amplification out of the box.
After tuning, the normalized Tuned Score improved to 3.8/5—a 0.6-point gain over the initial fit. Speech in quiet rose to 2.3/5 and speech in noise improved to 1.8/5, representing meaningful gains in speech clarity. The coupling remained closed dome, and feedback handling maintained its excellent 5.0/5. Music streaming and own-voice scores held steady. The tuned configuration demonstrates that adjustment can notably improve speech audibility while preserving the device's streaming strengths.
