Summary
In the initial fit condition using a tulip dome with medium-power receiver, the Widex Allure RIC 440 performed well out of the box with a fit score of 3.50. Speech performance was a standout, with speech in quiet and speech in noise both measuring above to well above average. Own-voice comfort scored above average, indicating good occlusion management with the open coupling. However, feedback handling measured well below average even in this initial configuration. Music streaming quality was above average. This initial fit represents strong baseline performance for speech-focused listening.
The tuned fit condition retained the same tulip dome coupling and medium-power receiver as the initial fit. Interestingly, the overall fit score decreased slightly to 3.11, with some metrics shifting. Speech in quiet improved marginally to 4.30, while speech in noise decreased to 2.50. Feedback handling worsened significantly to 1.70, well below the category average. Own-voice comfort and music streaming both decreased slightly from initial fit values. The tuned configuration did not yield improvements over the initial fit in our testing framework.
