In the initial fit condition with closed domes, the HearingAssist Eaze delivered below-average speech performance in our lab testing. Speech in quiet scored 2.30/5 (below the 2.62 category average), while speech in noise scored 1.00/5 (below the 1.20 average). The closed dome coupling contributed to below-average own-voice comfort at 2.20/5, meaning users may notice some occlusion effect when speaking. The bright spot was feedback handling at a perfect 5.00/5, indicating excellent stability without whistling during typical use. Music streaming was not evaluated for this device.
The tuned fit condition showed no improvement over the initial fit, as the HearingAssist Eaze lacks professional adjustment capabilities typical of prescription devices. Both fits used closed domes with identical scores across all metrics: speech in quiet at 2.30/5, speech in noise at 1.00/5, and own-voice comfort at 2.20/5. Feedback handling remained excellent at 5.00/5. This indicates the device operates at its maximum capability out of the box, with no additional tuning options available to optimize performance for individual hearing needs.
