In our testing, the Beyond demonstrated particular strength in speech clarity in quiet environments, scoring 4.3/5—a strong result that sits 1.48 points above the OTC category average. Music streaming quality also impressed at 3.8/5, exceeding the category average by 1.88 points. Speech understanding in noisy settings scored 2.3/5, which is above the category average of 1.48/5 but remains mixed in absolute terms—a common challenge across OTC devices.

Feedback handling proved excellent at 4.5/5, essentially matching the category average. Lab Notes

Initial fit observations

In our initial fit testing with a tulip dome coupling, the Elehear Beyond achieved a normalized Initial Score of 4.3/5. Speech in quiet measured 3.5/5, while speech in noise scored 2.1/5. Music streaming performed well at 3.8/5, and feedback handling was excellent at 4.5/5. Own-voice comfort measured 2.6/5, a mixed result. The initial configuration provides solid out-of-box performance, particularly for speech clarity in quieter environments and audio streaming applications.

Tuned fit observations

After tuning—still with the tulip dome coupling—the normalized Tuned Score improved to 4.6/5, a 0.3-point gain over the initial fit. The primary improvement came in speech in quiet, which rose from 3.5/5 to a strong 4.3/5. Speech in noise showed modest improvement to 2.3/5. Feedback handling, own-voice comfort, and music streaming remained consistent with initial testing. The tuning process yielded meaningful speech clarity benefits without requiring a coupling change.
