The EarCentric EasyCharge is a budget-priced prescription hearing aid that earned a D grade in HearAdvisor's lab testing, ranking in the bottom tier of the 34 prescription hearing aids evaluated. At $229, it represents one of the most affordable options in the prescription category, though our testing indicates significant performance trade-offs at this price point.
In our standardized testing, the EasyCharge struggled with core speech clarity metrics. Both speech in quiet and speech in noise scores fell well below the category average, which may limit its effectiveness for users who need reliable speech understanding across different listening environments. The device did demonstrate solid feedback handling, scoring above the prescription category average in this area—a notable strength that suggests stability during everyday wear.
Own-voice comfort measured below average, which is relevant for users sensitive to how their own speech sounds while wearing hearing aids. The power dome with slits coupling used in testing is a relatively open style, yet occlusion results still lagged behind competitors. Music streaming quality also tested well below average for the category.
Notably, our tuned fit condition showed no improvement over the initial fit, with identical scores across all metrics. This suggests limited adjustability within the device's fitting parameters. Budget-conscious shoppers in this price range may want to compare the RxEars Rxi ($3.73 score) or MDHearing Volt ($3.10 score), both of which demonstrated stronger overall performance in our lab testing.
