How We Test

The Signia Styletto AX is a premium behind-the-ear prescription hearing aid released in 2022, priced at $4,398. In HearAdvisor's lab testing, it earned an A grade with a SoundScore of 4.22 out of 5, placing it in the top 35% of the prescription hearing aid category.

This device demonstrates strong speech performance in our testing protocol. Speech in quiet measured 0.59 points above the category average, while speech in noise scored 0.68 points above average—both meaningful advantages for users prioritizing conversational clarity. Own-voice comfort also tested above average, suggesting reasonable occlusion management with its vented sleeve coupling.

However, the Styletto AX showed limitations in feedback handling, scoring 0.87 points below the category average. Music streaming quality also measured slightly below average at 0.13 points under. These tradeoffs are worth considering, particularly for users who frequently stream audio content or are sensitive to feedback artifacts.

Notably, several devices in the same premium price tier outperform the Styletto AX in overall sound quality, including the Oticon Intent (4.70) and Phonak Sphere Infinio (4.64). Within Signia's own lineup, the newer Styletto C&G IX scores higher at 4.56. Budget-conscious shoppers may find comparable or better performance at lower prices—the Rexton Reach R-Li T80 at Costco offers a 4.54 score for $1,499.99. The Styletto AX remains a solid choice for those drawn to its distinctive slim design and proven speech clarity, though its value proposition has become more competitive since its 2022 release.

Lab Test Summary

In the initial fit condition using vented sleeve coupling, the Signia Styletto AX achieved a fit score of 3.08 out of 5, which is above the category average. Speech in quiet (3.70) and speech in noise (1.90) both measured above average, indicating good out-of-box speech intelligibility performance. Own-voice comfort scored 3.10, reflecting adequate occlusion control with the open coupling. However, feedback handling at 4.20 fell below the category average of 4.77, suggesting some stability limitations. Music streaming measured at 3.00, which is above average for initial fit conditions.

What is HearAdvisor's Initial Fit?

The Initial Fit approximates the most likely settings and eartips for a typical moderate hearing loss. Results are measured across the same 72 acoustic scenes in our custom-built lab, then scored on a 5-star scale using an auditory model.
